The specific incident that set this off, was when I was trying to stop and there was no salt on the road, and I had to avoid sliding into a group of children waiting for a school bus, and realizing that this is an annual occurrence in my beighbourhood and that other people have mentioned how bad the road clearance is in winter in the Williamsburg neighbourhood in Kitchener.
In some neighbourhoods there are "traffic calming" obstacles installed, there are speed limits of 40 km/hr and they have better salt distribution on major roads for safety. Why is this not a standard in all neighbourhoods where our children and elderly live? I also noticed that these prevention of crazy speeders seem to pop only in rich neighbourhoods. It is never seen outside a high rise for low cost living. It is also not seen in my middle class neighbourhood where we have more cars, schools and a retirement home in less square feet that should have been allowed by the City planners.
Do the councillors care more about rich neighbourhoods, because when you are rich your life matters more? Our taxes are pretty high, so it's not that our money doesn't pay their salaries too...
